The Bulls are prepping for the first league weekend of a new season which will tip off at the home of Paralympics, Stoke Mandeville Stadium in Aylesbury. It sounds more glamourous than it actually is! The Bulls will be looking to improve on last years start to the season by actually showing up to the tournament!
The squad on paper looks strong with multiple 8-point line-ups which can be utilised to reek havoc on the opposition. The Udders are set to come up against some stiff competition with teams bringing in all the ringers from Europe and the GB team to take home the prestigious Division One trophy.
The Bulls will start their day off with a game against newly promoted RGC who went unbeaten in the Division Two league last season and are looking to make a mark on the league standings of Div 1! After a short rest we will be up against West Coast Burn, one of two teams entered by West Coast Wheelchair Rugby Club who are well on their way to achieving their goal of having every GBWR member on their roster! Burn have this year decided to leave Ayaz ‘only plays while where loosing‘ Bhuta out of the squad but will be boosted by Harri ‘following the money’ Jenkins as they seek to take back their title off of West Country ‘spent all our money‘ Hawks. The final game of the day will be against Leicester Tigers Swifts, a team that have avoided relegation again after loosing all their games for the past two seasons in Division One, they should probably change their name to Newcastle Falcons who have been on a similar streak for the past couple of years in the Rugby Premiership!
Following the fun and frolics of day one, a table has been booked at the local Italian restaurant where the Udders hope to consume copious amounts of pizza and alcohol before continuing their games the next morning in traditional club fashion – rough and hanging from the night’s antics.
The games on Sunday will be decided following the results from the first day. The Udders could face teams such as West Coast Heat and London Crusaders aswell as previously mentioned West Country ‘where have all our players gone?’ Hawks and newbies to the wheelchair rugby world, Cheltenham ‘No international players aloud in the league unless you’re newly selected or French’ Tigers.
Stay tuned this weekend for all of our results or keep up to date with all results throughout the day on Tournify.
